North Canyon High School Performing Arts Center Renovation
Paradise Valley Unified School District
Phoenix, AZ
ADM Group was hired to renovate the existing 1,250 seat Performing Arts Center at North Canyon High School. The building renovations were implemented in two separate phases.
Phase one included renovations to the “back of house” classrooms, restrooms, dressing rooms, corridors, and support spaces. This included ADA modifications, as well as updating finishes and fixtures.
Phase two included major renovations to the look and functionality of the “front of house” auditorium, sound booth, lobby, ticket booth, and restrooms. The concept was one of an art deco style theater inspired by the existing marquis lights in the lobby. Art deco shapes can be found on the new wood planked ceiling, accent wallcovering, tile patterns, light fixtures, and adorning the front wall of the stage. The ceiling was raised and a new glass wall entrance was added from the exterior to provide a grand lobby space. The building also received plumbing, mechanical, and electrical upgrades, as well as the latest in theatrical equipment; including new rigging, new lighting, and a new sound system. Minor exterior upgrades, including new signage, and new exterior ticket windows provided the finishing touches.
